I enlisted in the Army and was on active duty from August 12,1968 to April 27,1970. That's 2 years 8 mos and 15 days. Not that I really kept track.
I had basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, then was sent to language Spanish) training, MOS : 98G (Cryptologic Linguist), at the Presidio of Monterey, California for 6 mos.
From there I was sent overseas to the Panama Canal for about 9 mos. That's where I got a type of skin disease and was transferred to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.
After Walter Reed I was stationed at Fort Carson Colorado, just outside of Colorado Springs and directly down the hill from NORAD, until I was medically discharged from the Army with a 10% disability.

Served in the Army Security Agency in the late 50's, basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, then language training (Russssian) at the Presidio of Monterey, California.
Stationed in Heilbran, Germany.

US Air Force (1960s), basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Also, served at the Clark Air Base on Luzon Island in the Philippines,

Pfc. Max Polak, of K Company, 127th Regiment, was killed on October 5, 1918 during the World War I Meuse-Argonne Offensive and is buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in France.
Max won the Silver Star by remaining at his post under heavy fire.

Rich was in the Army Reserve for 6 or 7 years in the 757 Transportation Battalion.
His Company went to Korea, but his was split and half stayed in the States and half went to Korea.
He was lucky and stayed at Ft. Eustis, Virginia.

WWII Veteran. Enlisted in the US Army, transferred to and retired from the US Air Force.

Served in the Army Air Force from Feb 18, 1943, when he was 19 years old to Nov 19, 1945. Shot down 10 enemy planes as a double ace P51 pilot. Earned the Purple Heart, Distinguished Service Cross , and Air Medal .

World War II, Army, Infantry, a medic assigned to the Immaterial/Infantry Division Band/Dental Corps/Medical Department.
A POW at Stalag 4b Muhlberg Sachsen 51 13 (Germany) from Dec, 21 1944 to May 17, 1945.
Also, a recipient of the Purple Heart.

US Navy Retired. Stationed in Hawaii, USS Yellowstone and USS Enterprise.
