Mieczysław (Max) Thomas Polak was born on June 30, 1898, in Inowroclaw, Poland and immigrated to the United States with his parents Franciszka (Frances) Gorski and Vincent (Wincenty) Casimer Polak in Feb 1901.

Pfc. Max Polak, of K Company, 127th Regiment, was killed on October 5, 1918 during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and is buried at Plot D, Row 20 Grave 11 at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in France.

Max won the Silver Star by remaining at his post under heavy fire.

This is the only family picture of Max.
